ISTANBUL, TURKEY: FACTS FOR TRAVELERS

WHERE TO STAY: I would strongly recommend staying in Sultanahmet, in the Old part of Istanbul. Sultanahmet is crammed with some of the most important and extraordinary historical sights of Istanbul.

Here are some options in Sultanahmet (Old part of Istanbul) and Beyoglu (New Istanbul)

 Top End

Budget hotels (in Sultanahmet, Old Istanbul)

WHERE TO TRY A TURKISH BATH:

Cagaloglu Hamami: Constructed more than 300 years ago by a sultan, it is supposed to be one of the best in town. For 40 Euros, you can get a full service that includes access to the bath, a scrub and massage. http://www.cagalogluhamami.com.tr/

 WHERE TO PARTY

  • Reina: Located at the foot of the European side of the Bosphorus Bridge, Reina is a sophisticated club/restaurant with glittery atmosphere that has become the meeting place of the Turkish jet-setting crowd. Its restaurant offers a variety of dishes that rages from Italian to Sushi and Turkish. The music is a combination of Eastern and European club sounds.
  • Anjelique: It is one of the most popular places in Istanbul. The magnificent three-storey building has a restaurant and a lounge, offering great views, excellent food and a cool indoor and outdoor ambience.
  • Club 29: Located at the beautiful boutique Les Ottomans, Club 29 is a top-notch partying venue with an elegant décor that starts as a lounge in the afternoon and turn into a night club after midnight.
