IMG_1887I went to Bhutan for only six days, and saw a lot. The tour agency did a terrific job squeezing as much as possible in those six days so I could make the most of my visit. However, I would strongly recommend spending at least ten days in Bhutan. It is worth the time and the money. It is not like any other country you will ever visit!

Day 1: Paro (Visit National Museum, and Rinchen Pung Dzong)
Day 2: Thimphu (Memorial Chorten, Changgangkha Lhakhang Monastery, Folk Heritage Museum, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, National Institute for Zorig Chusum, and Takin Reserve)
Day 3: Punakha Valley (don’t miss the stunning Punakha Dzong Fortress).
Day 4: Excursion to Phobjikha Valley (see the Black necked cranes) and drive back to Thimpu
Day 5: Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger Nest)
Day 6: Departure from Paro, Bhutan

You can add to this itinerary the following:

o“Druk Path-Trek”: Trek and Camping for 3 nights/4 days
oDay Hike around Dochola Pass (Paro to Thimphu)
oOr just talk to Lotay or Fin from Bridge to Bhutan (their contact info is at the Tips section) and tell them what you like, they will tailor an itinerary based on your interests.
