Philippines Itinerary and some tips

My original plan to Palawan changed at the last minute due to two flight delays. Maybe it was bad luck but every single flight I took to and from Philippines, and within Philippines, was delayed.

So the following itinerary wasnt the one I followed but one recommended to make sure you have time to catch flights and busses.

Day 1: Arrival in Manila. Overnight in Manila.

Day 2: Flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa.

Day 3: You can go down to do a trek to visit the Tao’t Bato Tribe or go north to go to the more touristy area of El Nido. If you want to take the adventurous south, then take a van from Puerto Princesa to Rizal ( Charing Company or Leonard are some of the companies that travel there, and they are located at the San Jose Terminal). It is four hours drive to Rizal. Stay at Bodj Place, Castelar place and Mountaineers Lodging House. To do the trek, contact:

Maria Gracia Macasaet. Phone: +639-3991-66272. Email:

Day 4: Proceed to Ransang. Transportation available jeepney, van, bus or hire of motorbike. Approximately 20 to 30 minutes ride to Ransang

* In Ransang, go to the house of Captain Layacan, and present your permit

* Meet the Guide and porter and then you can start of trek any time.

* Visit the cave people. Camping overnight.

Day 5: Overnight in the jungle

Day 6: Trek back to Punta Baja. Stay there overnight.

Day 7: Travel from Punta Baja to Puerto Princesa, and from Puerto Princesa to El Nido. It will be a long day in busses. You can choose to stay in Puerto Princesa for the night, and continue to El Nido next morning.

Day 8: El Nido.

Around the town you are going to find hundreds of options to go on a boat, and they are all combination of A,B,C and D. Each letter means different locations in El Nido. I recommend Alexzus Travel & Tours. It was the cheapest I found, and it was well organized. Address: Serena Street. Bgy. Buenasuerte. El Nido, Palawan. Website: Phone: +639082762287.

  • Tour A & B

Day 9: El Nido

  • Tour C & D

Day 10: El Nido.

  • Cliff climbing (for awesome views!) and then you will need a massage. You will deserve it!

Day 10: Return to Puerto Princesa.

For accommodation, here are two very different options:

Budget: Don Pablo Lodge. Great deal. Clean rooms with great location, AC and Wi-Fi. Address: #8-Interior Lagan Street, Bgy. Tanglaw. Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Email: Phone: 048-433-0376

Luxury: Aziza Paradise Hotel. BM Road, Bgy. San Manuel, Puerto Princesa City. Phone: 63-0484342405 Email: Website:

Day 11: Day trip to the Underground River

Day 12: Depart Palawan.
