Tips for Rock Climbing in Arizona

If you are an adrenaline junkie or just want to experience an exhilarating adventure while in Arizona, I strongly recommend you to go rock climbing.

There are dozens of amazing spots for rock climbing in Arizona, and you don’t need to be Cris Sharma to do it.

One of the great advantages of a place like Arizona is that there are options for all levels of rock climbers: from beginners to pro.

I have to confess that the last time I went rock climbing, I didn’t make it to the end… well not even to half to where I was supposed to get. That was in Thailand in 2001.

But my disappointing experience didn’t prevent me from giving it a second chance…and it was SO worthy.

For this adventure, I went to the beautiful Jacks canyon in the Coconino National Forest. Climbs here range from 5.6 to 5.13, meaning that it can be done easily and safely, or you can really push your limits.

Our very knowledgeable guide Dane Sterba was super helpful and went the extra mile not only to teach us the basic but to help us make the climb easier at times. His passion for nature and climbing was contagious and that’s what sets apart a great guide and a great trip from an average one.

Dane Sterba is part of Center Focus (, a company that organizes adventure and outdoor trips in Arizona. I strongly recommend this company not only because the trip was well organized and because of the quality of its guides, but also because it is a reliable tour operator.

Center Focus’s owner, Garret Bennett, responded very quickly to my request and provided all the information I needed to prepare for the trip. He also went the extra mile to accommodate me in this trip during a very busy season.

So if you want to have an unforgettable rock climbing experience, I strongly recommend to go with Center Focus. For more information about rock climbing and adventure trips, check its website, or contact them at +1-928-567-8580 or email them at
