ITINERARY VIETNAM, LAOS AND CAMBODIA
If you want to save some time, I will strongly recommend to fly instead of taking ground transportation between the countries. I had two weeks and a half to visit Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. In the following suggested itinerary, I added some extra days where I considered necessary. But if you don’t have the amount of time recommended, you can definitely cut some days off to meet your needs.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN HO CHI MINH (SAIGON), VIETMAN
DAY 2: HO CHI MINH (SAIGON), VIETMAN
DAY 3: FLIGHT FROM HO CHI MINH (SOUTH VIETMAN) TO HUE (CENTRAL VIETMAN)
DAY 4: HUE, CENTRAL VIETMAN
DAY 5: FLIGHT FROM HUE (CENTRAL VIETNAM) TO HANOI (NORTHERN VIETNAM)
Day 6: HANOI, VIETNAM
Day 7: HANOI, VIETNAM
DAY 8: TWO DAYS CRUISE TO HALONG BAY (Could be extended)
DAY 9: HALONG BAY, VIETNAM
DAY 10: HALONG BAY, VIETNAM
DAY 11: RETURN TO HANOI FROM HALONG BAY, VIETMAN
(You can add here a day or two to Sapa. You can reach Sapa by train. Or go back to Hanoi)
DAY 12: FLIGHT FROM HANOI TO LUANG PRABANG, LAOS.
DAY 13: LUANG PRABANG, LAOS
DAY 14: DAY TRIP FROM LUANG PRABANG TO PAK OU CAVE AND KHOUANGSI WATERFALL, LAOS
DAY 15: BUS FROM LUANG PRABANG TO PHOSAVAN, LAOS
DAY 16: PHOSAVAN, LAOS
DAY 17: BUS FROM PHOSAVAN TO VANG VIENG
DAY 18: VANG VIENG, LAOS
DAY 19: VANG VIENG, LAOS
DAY 20: TWO OPTIONS:
- Take a bus from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang and take a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
- Take a boat to Vientiane (Laos’s capital) and take a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
DAY 21: SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA
DAY 22: SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA
DAY 23: SPEED BOAT FROM SIEM REAP TO PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA

DAY 24: PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
DAY 26: DEPARTURE FROM PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
